Assistant Teacher / Kindergarten
Wissahickon Charter School is an innovative urban K-8 school with an environmental focus located in Germantown. We are looking for candidates for an assistant teacher position in a kindergarten classroom who have a bachelor’s degree, a record of success working with children, an ability to take initiative, and a strong work ethic. Responsibilities of our assistant teacher include: Teaching and assisting in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the lead teacher; assisting the classroom teachers with maintaining student records, enforcing the established rules and consequences as the teacher would; monitoring work assigned by the lead teacher; preparing and present displays of students' work; supporting lead teachers in photocopying and other tasks in order to support teaching; and taking initiative in learning about curriculum and instructional strategies. We are looking for a teacher for 2/5 time position developing and implementing honors classes for our middle school students and assisting teachers in grade 4 & 5 in differentiating instruction for their highest skill students. Candidates should have a BA or Master's degree, certification in one or more middle school areas, a record of success working with children in the middle years, and an ability to develop curricula that will challenge our strongest students.
