Attached is the Intent to Enroll Form for Wissahickon Charter School for students entering grades Kindergarten through Grade 8 in September 2010. Wissahickon Charter School is a tuition-free public school open to the children of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth Pennsylvania. There is no admission test. The purpose of this form is to collect information that will be used to establish a mailing list so that we may communicate with prospective students.
When the completed Intent to Enroll Form has been returned, your child's name will be placed on the list of prospective students. In the event there are more prospective students than seats, a lottery will be conducted to select students. The first phase of the lottery will be held for students who are residents of Philadelphia.
The lottery for Kindergarten is held on December 7th. Admission notices will be sent to those students selected in the lottery. A "Waiting List" will be established (in lottery order) for those students not selected.
Applications for grades other than Kindergarten will be collected until March 31st. A lottery to select a waiting list will be held on April 5, 2010. When/If a spot becomes available the student who is first on the waiting list will be called to claim the spot, if the spot isn't claimed, we will go down the waiting list until we fill the spot. Parents will be notified via mail as to what spot their child is on the waiting list.
Those students who receive an admission notice will also be sent an appointment for registration. The registration process must be completed so that actual enrollments and class assignments can be made. Parents/guardians who complete the registration process are acknowledging that their child is officially enrolled in Wissahickon Charter School and that the child will attend the school in September 2010.
Once all registrations are completed, if any vacancies remain, students will be enrolled from the "Waiting List" in the order in which their name appears on that list.
In order to for a student to be eligible for kindergarten in 2010-2011 school year, the student must be 5 years old as of 9/01/2010. Students born after 9/1/2005 are not five years old and will not have reached the School District entry age for kindergarten.
